Description
The Swamp Fox Tavern is named in honor of Francis Marion, the Revolutionary War Hero from Georgetown, South Carolina who was born in 1732. It’s not a real tavern to the best of our knowledge. The signs are made from Lowcountry Cypress and represent the patriotic state of mind. The tavern played a significant role in colonial America’s especially in the rural south. Taverns were the chief link to the greater world war news from the United States, France and England. It was a place to sleep and get a fine spirit. To celebrate victory or defeat. They served as planning centers for actions by the colonists against the British and Loyalists. The warfare in the south left much of the countryside in ruins. The civilian population suffered the destruction of homes, farms, mills and livestock
Thank you for your purchase and for keeping the patriot spirit alive!
All proceeds from the sale of these frames go to support our museum.
